I refer to the letter ‘Where was TVM?’ (September 26).

Due to unforeseen logistical circumstances, which TVM had no control over, the scheduled broadcast of the activities in a delayed format organised on Independence Day was not possible.

It was therefore decided to broadcast three activities on September 21 at 9.50pm, on September 22 at 6.20pm, in both cases on TVM, and on September 23 at 8.40pm on TVM2.

I would also like to point out that, on September 21, TVM and Radio Malta 2 broadcast live the Pontifical Mass, traditional to the occasion, which this year was attended by Prince William, Duke of Cambridge.

Apart from this, TVM also broadcast the Independence Concert, which is also traditional to the occasion. This was broadcast twice on TVM2: on September 22 at 8.40pm and on September 26 at 7.15pm.

Apart from this relay of organised activities, together with the extensive coverage given in all TVM news bulletins, Public Broadcasting Services also commemorated this significant anniversary through an original four-part documentary – 50 Sena Indipendenza – that was aired on TVM on September 5, 12, 19 and 25 at 8.50pm. These were repeated on TVM2 on September 20 at 8.40pm.

Another documentary, L-ewwel 50 sena, was aired on September 20 at 4.50pm on TVM and was repeated on the next day, at the same time, on TVM2.

Finally, there was also the commissioning of a dramatic production – called Iva, Nemmen – which was aired on TVM on September 21.

We thank our audiences for the positive feedback we received for these productions and reaffirm our commitment to quality broadcasting.
