I suggest that Fr David Muscat (‘Getting stuck on stupid’, September 22) brushes off the much-accumulated dust from the cover of his Bible and sees what God has to say about the sin of idolatry, not man’s interpretation or his rhetoric.

God’s commandment, as per Exodus 20:4-5: “Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above or that is in the earth beneath or that is in the water under the earth.

“Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them nor serve them for I the Lord thy God am a jealous God.”

Leviticus 26:1-2 is likewise an admonition against idolatry.

But, to sum up the priest’s conviction, find the time to sing Psalm 115, which suits him splendidly.

Incidentally, my Holy Father is in Heaven whereas my human father is dead and buried.
