Opposition leader Simon Busuttil has appealed to the International Organisation on Migration to support the United States in the transfer of refugees from Malta and to give the same type of support to other European countries so that they would also help in this project.

Dr Busuttil met officials from the IOM and also from the United Nations Development Agency during meetings in New York.

Dr Busuttil said that the US had so far taken some 2,000 refugees from Malta.

With the UNDP officials, Dr Busuttil discussed the situation in Libya, Syria and Iraq. He reiterated the Nationalist Party’s support for international efforts aimed at curbing ISIS.
