St Hubert's Hunters Association (Kaccaturi San Ubertu) said today it had lodged objections in court to the holding of a referendum for the repeal of legislation which allows spring hunting.

The association said the derogation from the Birds Directive which enabled Malta to have a spring hunting season was given to Malta in line with European directives following a ruling by the European Court of Justice that determined that there were “specific circumstances” for the hunting of turtle dove and quail in Malta as opposed to the rest of the European Union.
