Archbishop Emeritus Ġużeppi Mercieca yesterday celebrated 40 years since his Episcopal ordination.

During Mass at the Mdina Cathedral, Archbishop Paul Cremona presented a donation to Mgr Mercieca’s charity, which over the years helped the sick, families in need and the missions abroad.

He was also given a portrait of himself painted by Gozitan artist Manuel Farrugia. It will be displayed at the bishop's palace in Mdina alongside portraits of his predecessors.
