Hamburg: Hamburg ended a Bundesliga record goal drought but still lost 2-1 to E. Frankfurt courtesy of a sensational 90th-minute free- kick from Lucas Piazon. Hamburg, anchored in last place, set a new league record for the longest goal drought since the start of the season by failing to score in their first five games and the opening 25 minutes of their match yesterday.

Malmo: Elfsborg and AIK Stockholm drew 1-1 yesterday to leave Swedish champions Malmo one win away from defending their title. Malmo, who are 10 points clear at the top with four games to play after an Emil Forsberg hat-trick helped them to a 4-1 win at home to Mjallby on Saturday, face AIK in Stockholm next Sunday.

PSV: Daley Sinkgraven scored 13 minutes from time to give 10-man Heerenveen a 1-0 victory over Dutch leaders PSV Eindhoven yesterday and ensure a three-way tie at the top of the Dutch standings. PSV’s second loss of the league season means they stay on 15 points, ahead on goal difference from defending champions Ajax and last season’s cup winners PEC Zwolle, who both won high-scoring games on Saturday.

Luiz: Paris Saint-Germain coach Laurent Blanc feels fans must be patient with defender David Luiz, insisting he must be given time to settle into the team. “He needs time,” Blanc said of Luiz. “Like some other players, he arrived after a big disappointment in the World Cup.”
