From fastest to slowest. This is how I would describe the last two grand prix. The Italian Grand Prix was definitely the fastest of the season and the shortest one too taking just one hour, 19 minutes and 10 seconds to complete. This was thanks to the new evolution, electro-combustion engines reaching some incredible top speeds.

After Nico Rosberg was fined by his team for crashing into Lewis Hamilton at the Belgian Grand Prix, the team might have also ordered him to hand the favour back to Hamilton in Monza. Rosberg twice overshot the first corner allowing Hamilton to overtake and win the race.

Monza was a complete dominance by the Mecedes Petronas F1 team closely followed with third place podium finisher Felipe Massa in the Williams, also powered by Mercedes.

It was the Brazilian’s first podium for Williams and it could not have come at a better time in front of his tifosi who had supported the Brazilian during his time at Ferrari.

Then we went from a very fast grand prix to a relatively new venue now in its seventh edition. A unique race staged at night, Singapore is still attracting a sizable audience and getting stronger every year unlike the recent new venues which fell short of expectations like Korea and India, despite the soaring temperatures and the length of the race.

Debris on the track from Sergio Perez’s front spoiler prompted the use of the safety car. Hamilton and Rosberg are at their best on fast tracks so Singapore was not going to be easy.

Rosberg seems to be the driver with the bad luck now as the German driver suffered electronic glitches on his steering wheel , losing his front row position which eventually led to his retirement from the race.

Despite their dominance, Mercedes Petronas’s true potential is still not known, with team engineers claiming that next year’s engine will be 50hp more powerful.

Red Bull drivers placed second and third with Fernando Alonso taking fourth and a rather surprising Massa who again scored points.

Alonso assured everyone that he will be staying at Ferrari next season and that Vettel will not be taking his place.

However, Honda, which will be supplying McLaren from 2015, want a top driver with both Vettel and Alonso on their wish list.

Next race is on Sunday in Japan.
