A mother and son who found themselves in difficulty while swimming on the Xaghra side of Ramla Bay at 11.40am were assisted by the lifeguards of the Emergency Response and Rescue Corps.

Lifeguards swam to assist the two people and successfully dragged them ashore to safety.

In the meantime a third swimmer was also given assistance by another lifeguard.

The lifeguarding service at the Ramla Bay, which for this season ends today, is possible due to financial support from the Malta Tourist Authority and Gaia Foundation.

Support is also provided by the Ministry for Gozo, Mgarr Marina, Transport Malta, Police, Armed Forces of Malta, Police and the Civil Protection Department.
