The new Tagine restaurant at San Antonio Hotel and Spa, Qawra, can be described as ‘Morocco with a touch of India’. A number of rooms making up the restaurant are done up in typically intimate Moorish style and serve a mouthwatering array of dishes from Moroccan and Indian traditional cuisine.
Moroccan dishes include the chef’s own family recipe of tagine of lamb, which is slowly stewed in the world-famous pots and served with plums and almonds, flavoured with sesame, cinnamon and a hint of saffron.
The menu also features chicken, kefta, beef, lamb and fish tagines cooked with vegetables or fruits. There is also the desert nomads’ specialty dishes of mutton, vegetables and dairy produce, all flavoured with exotic spices.
The Indian chef gives his own culinary interpretation of the best-known dishes such as tandoori, tikka masala, korma, madras and, of course, curries. All are served with delicious traditional naan bread and rice.
