PwC knows a thing or two about identifying and recruiting talented university students and graduates. Over the years PwC has involved over 400 students into its various student programmes.
“When selecting students to join our programmes, we put ourselves in their shoes and understand what they want to get out of working at PwC. They are seeking an experience they can be proud of and want valuable training to help them succeed in their career. At PwC we can meet, and exceed, these expectations,” says David Valenzia, Human Capital Partner.
Joining the largest professional services firm in Malta is a competitive process and PwC often gets asked: So what do you look for when selecting students and graduates to join your programmes?
The first step is preparation. Well-prepared interviewees are more likely to make a positive impression at an interview. Research the organisation by going on their website and social media to absorb as much knowledge as you can before attending the interview. Your attire is also very important: dress professionally and appropriately.
During your interview, try your best to keep your nerves under control. Also, listen carefully to what the interviewer is asking you and don’t be afraid to ask for clarification if you are unsure. Express yourself clearly and concisely: answer the question that was asked and be careful not to go off point. When possible, support your answers with real-life examples that you can elicit from previous experiences. Wrap up your interview by asking considered questions about the organisation and the team you will be working in.
“When recruiting, we look for students who can demonstrate that they are ‘all-rounders’. They need to show that they are not only academically sound but also that they have the interpersonal skills and business acumen which our clients expect from PwC,” says Lisa Pullicino, Human Capital Partner.
