Accountancy firm EY will be launching the 10th edition of its Malta attractiveness survey at a national conference on October 8, with Alastair Campbell as a keynote speaker.

Mr Campbell is best known for his role as former British Prime Minister Tony Blair’s spokesman and director of communications and strategy. Still active in politics in Britain and overseas, he now splits his time between writing, speaking, charitable fundraising, consultancy and campaigns.

Featuring Malta’s top decision makers in the public and private sectors and high-profile international speakers, this year’s conference will focus on 50 years of foreign direct investment in Malta, how the scenario has changed over the years and future prospects.

EY’s country managing partner, Ronald Attard said: “For a decade we have been offering a platform for key decision makers to discuss the crucial issues driving Malta’s attractiveness for foreign direct investment.

“The event has now become a yearly national appointment for all concerned, a sell-out with demand for participation increasing year-on-year.

“We are now taking the conference up another notch with a line-up of over 50 speakers, including our country’s prime minister and Opposition leader, Poland’s former prime minister, Kazimierz Marcinkiewicz, and Alistair Campbell, who is one of the most in-demand speakers on the global circuit today.”

Apart from panel discussions with stakeholders, the full-day conference at the Westin Dragonara will also feature interactive, sector-based breakout sessions specifically designed to delve more deeply into what is shaping Malta’s businesses.

The EY attractiveness surveys are designed to help businesses make informed investment decisions and governments to improve their respective business environment while tackling barriers that may intercept future growth.

They assess the attractiveness of a region or country as an investment destination by analysing the reality and perception of greenfield and expansion foreign direct investment (FDI) as well as their impact on local economies.
