Precision flying displays by the Red Arrows and Frecce Tricolori thrilled the crowds which gathered to enjoy the 22nd edition of the Malta International Airshow this afternoon.

The shows proved to be an exercise in speed and agility as the aircraft wizzed overhead unaffected by the wind.

One of the Red Arrows pilots was informed before the display started that his wife had had a baby. A 'heart' display was dedicated to her.

Frecce Tricolori set part of their display to operatic music.

This year’s airshow, being held between today and tomorrow, is also featuring the the Spanish Patrulla Aguila’.

It includes flying displays by a Swiss F18, Belgian F16, Czech L-159 alca, among others, and a static display.
