Sports parliamentary secretary Chris Agius has been unanimously selected as one of the three officials representing the European Union on the Foundation Board of the World Anti-Doping Agency.  The other EU representatives are the Sports Ministers of Belgium and Luxembourg.

The World Anti-Doping Agency (Wada) was established in 1999 as an international independent agency composed of the sport movement and governments of the world. Its key activities include scientific research, education, development of anti-doping capacities, and monitoring of the World Anti-Doping Code - which harmonises anti-doping policies in all sports and countries.

On behalf of the EU, Mr Agius will be representing the future Trio Presidency (made up of The Netherlands, Slovakia and Malta) on the Wada Foundation Board, Wada’s supreme decision-making body composed of 38-member representatives from the Olympic Movement and governments.
