The police yesterday issued a warning on the so-called black money scam.

They said the perpetrators, often foreign, would usually say they were in possession of money smuggled out of their country. To evade the authorities, such cash would have been covered in black ink (hence, black money) or bleached (white money).

They would sell victims chemicals to restore the cash, that would turn out to be fake.
