Malta and Gambia have signed a cooperation agreement to repatriate migrants back to the African country.

It was signed by Foreign Minister George Vella and Gambian Foreign Affairs Minister Bala Garba Jahumpa in New York where the 60th UN general assembly is being held. There are currently 80 Gambians in Malta who were not granted asylum.

The agreement was signed following a meeting between the Gambian minister and PM Joseph Muscat.
