Routledge: Swansea boss Garry Monk says Wayne Routledge deserves his new contract after finding a home at the Liberty Stadium. Routledge represented eight different clubs before joining Swansea in August 2011. The 29-year-old winger has signed an extended one-year deal which will keep him at Swansea until 2018. “He thoroughly deserves it because of his commitment to his club and how he’s been,” said Monk.

Leyton Orient: Kevin Nugent has been placed in caretaker charge of Leyton Orient following Russell Slade’s resignation. Slade quit Brisbane Road on Wednesday night having been denied permission to speak to Cardiff about their vacant managerial position. His departure came after a tumultuous couple of weeks at the east London club, during which Slade was told by Orient’s new owners that he had one game to save his job.

Rogic: Tom Rogic is almost certain to miss next year’s Asian Cup after having surgery on a groin injury that kept him out of the World Cup, Australia coach Ange Postecoglou has said. Rogic was a noticeable absentee from Postecoglou’s squad named yesterday for friendlies against the United Arab Emirates and Qatar next month and the coach said it was unlikely the Celtic player would be fit in time for the Jan. 9-31 tournament in Australia.

Rostov: Miodrag Bozovic has become the second managerial casualty of the Russian Premier League season after he left his post as coach of FC Rostov. The Montenegrin resigned after the club crashed out of the Russian Cup, the title they won last year, after losing 3-0 to second division Syzran-2003.

Ligue 1: St Etienne vs Bordeaux 1-1.
