Breakfast show host Nick Grimshaw is undergoing intensive training in an effort to set a new world record – for twerking.

The BBC Radio 1 star is practising to establish a duration record for the dance craze by constantly wiggling his hips and thrusting his bottom out for an entire hour.

He aims to set his record beginning at 8.30am on September 30, with live coverage during his programme as an official from Guinness World Records monitors his progress in the studio.

Hospital parking ticket is no joke

Comedian Roy Chubby Brown had to see the funny side of it when he was given a parking ticket at a hospital where he was handing over a £5,000 (€6,360) charity donation to help cancer patients.

The blue comic had just presented a giant cheque to staff at the James Cook University Hospital, Middlesbrough, when he returned to his car and found a £50 (€64) ticket plastered on the windscreen.

That was despite Brown, whose real name is Royston Vasey, having permission from hospital bosses to park there.

Ukulele orchestra decision

A British ukulele orchestra has lost a High Court duel with a German rival that uses an English name.

The Ukulele Orchestra Of Great Britain yesterday failed to persuade a judge that its reputation could be unfairly tarnished by the appearance of the United Kingdom Ukulele Orchestra – which is based in Germany but made up of British musicians.

Bosses claimed that their German rival was infringing name trademark rights.

Man broke into police station

Police say a man who thought he was breaking into a Vermont school actually got into the local police station.

WFFF-TV reports the man, identified as 59-year-old John Dettor of Washington, DC, told police he wanted a warm place to stay.

Police say that late last week Dettor used a traffic cone to break the glass and get into the police station in Shelburne, thinking it was a school. He was arrested on suspicion of unlawful mischief.

Phony VIP taxi service busted

Police have busted a phony VIP taxi service in Greece that was using the bank accounts of homeless people to collect deposits from cab drivers.

Police spokesman Christos Parthenis said seven people have been arrested, accused of taking more than €110,000 in deposits from drivers who were promised a customer list that would include officials from the European Commission and the World Health Organisation.

Mr Parthenis said a 66-year-old man and 39-year-old woman, both Greek, were accused of paying panhandlers and homeless people in Athens to use their bank accounts to collect the deposits.
