The Marsa CC are coming from a busy weekend during which they played against CMS CC in a twenty over game on Friday before taking Eton Ramblers in a two-game series.

On Friday, the home team batted first and made a reasonable total of 130 runs.

Frank Spiteri top scored with 27 runs which included four boundaries. Tony Azzopardi made 19 and Matt McKeogh 16.

Amazingly there were 31 extras which in the end determined the final outcome.

For CMS, G. Tan took two wickets while O. Chowdleuy, A. Tyagi, A. Moodie and D. Pastill picked one each.

CMS were bowled out with one ball remaining in the innings.

They totalled 95 runs. J. Hewton and Chowdleuy both made 20 runs.

For Marsa Sumair Khan and Tim Wheeler took two wickets each while Haroon Majeed, Tony Slater, Tony Azzopardi and Justin Farrin Thorne claimed a wicket each... a great start for the Marsa team.

On Saturday the Eton Ramblers batted first and totalled 237 from their overs.

A. Carroll top scored with 66 runs which included ten fours and two sixes. E. Russell scored 38, R. Finch 31 and J. Dunnington 24 .

For Marsa Derek Ali bowled well, taking four wickets, Suhrid Roy picked two while Ramadeep Singh, Sarfraz Ali and Ali Hamza all claimed a wicket each.

The Eton bowlers performed extremely well and bowled out the Marsa team in the 19th over for 95 runs.

Singh put up some resistance making 32 runs and Jonathan Tully smashed 16 not out which included two fours and a six. For the Ramblers, J. Willis Flemming and E. Steel took three wickets each while A. Taylor and E. Williams had two apiece for a big win.

On Sunday, the Ramblers batted first and bettered their previous day score, this time 285 runs.

E. Williams was devastating with 89 runs which included six fours and a six. E. Maidment was on fire with 51 from 37 balls which included seven fours and a six.

A. Taylor made 37, G. Deedes 26 and E. Russell 32.

For Marsa, Andrew Naudi, Adam Krishna and Sumair Khan took two wickets each and Nowell Khosla had one.

The Ramblers were happy enough with their score and probably were planning what to do with the extra time they would have if they bowl out the Marsa team early again.

To their surprise a 121-run partnership from Nowell Khosla (71 runs) and Sam Aquilina (68) kept Marsa in the game.

But the hosts struggled to keep up with the required run rate and despite a feisty 40 not out from Sumair Khan towards the end of the innings they could not get over the line.

The Marsa team were bowled out with an over to spare and totalled a competitive 262 runs.

For the visitors A. Carroll was their saviour taking five wickets including the two main scorers for Marsa while G. Deedes took three.

Eton Ramblers won the series two to nil.

Next weekend sees the return of Ladymead CC who will be on their third tour to Malta after previous visits in 2007 and 2008.
