A 29-year-old man was charged with injuring his brother with a knife following an argument about their academic achievements.

Magistrate Marseann Farrugia heard Jonathan Sciberras of San Ġwann plead not guilty to injuring his brother, Jean Paul, in their home on Sunday.

The two, both university students, were arguing about who was the better at their academic work and who was the most intelligent.

Jonathan Sciberras pointed a knife at his brother who grabbed it by the blade and injured his hand, the court was told.

The accused was granted bail against a personal guarantee of €3,000 and asked not to speak to his brother and father until they testified in court.

Police Inspector Elton Taliana prosecuted while lawyer Jason Azzopardi represented the accused.
