The very wise decision of Prime Minister Joseph Muscat to bring to a premature end the present hunting season has brought into the open the political power of the hunting fraternity.

They statement that they will no longer continue to support the Labour Party and the unlawful and dangerous demonstration by hunters in Valletta and Buskett is proof that the hunters’ federation has absolutely no control over its members. They want to control our politicians.

It appears that they do not check on their members either, since surely bona fide hunters would never accept the so-called ambush at Buskett.

Perhaps the government’s decision will help in Karmenu Vella’s nomination as European commissioner. And, of course, we shall now see what the police action is going to be against those who took part in the unlawful activities in Valletta and Buskett.

Excuse the pun, however, I feel that illegal hunters should be “shot down in flames”.
