I can honestly say to Revel Barker (‘New Citizens’, September 15), that the fact that Maltese citizenship could be given – as he put it – to despots, war criminals and those accused of crimes against humanity did originally cross my mind.
But, on the other hand, we were assured that Henley and Partners’ rigorous selection team would definitely turn down applications from such persons.
In this day and age of internet and advanced high technology, it’s practically impossible for someone to hide his identity or past and present crimes.
