The Malta Developers Association has called for greater professionalism at construction sites following a number of accidents involving construction workers.

"Without going into the merits of individual cases, the MDA feels that certain amateurism in the construction sector is out of date and that nowadays we cannot do without professionalism in this sector," the association said.

It said it recognised the efforts being made by the Occupational Health and Safety Authority and urges everyone to observe the OHSA’s guidelines.

The association said it will upload to its website (www.mda.com.mt) all information on the legal provisions that safeguard health and safety on construction sites.

It also called on the authorities to act whenever regulations are not observed.
