The AFM today welcomed 130 recruits after a call for applications issued last year. 586 had applied to join, and the recruits were chosen after a physical fitness assessment, a motivational interview and a medical examination.

Eleven of the recruits are women.

The recruits this morning took their oath of allegiance to the People and the Republic of Malta and its Constitution.

They will now follow 18 weeks of basic military training including physical training, skill-at-arms, drill and military law.
