Emirates and Jetstar are expanding their codeshare and frequent flyer relationship to 30 routes across the Asia Pacific.

From October 26, Emirates will grow its codeshare to include Jetstar Airways services between Melbourne and Uluru in Australia, and Christchurch to Wellington in New Zealand.

From Jetstar Asia’s hub in Singapore, new codeshare services will connect Emirates passengers to Penang in Malaysia, Yangon in Myanmar and Medan in Indonesia.

“The expansion of the codeshare with Jetstar is an important milestone as we continue to expand the destinations available to Emirates’ passengers,” said Thierry Antinori, the airline’s executive vice president and chief commercial officer.

Skywards members can now earn Skywards Miles when they book economy Starter Plus, economy Starter Max or Business Max fares on international routes with Jetstar Airways, Jetstar Asia, Jetstar Japan and Valuair, as well as domestic routes within Australia and New Zealand if they connect to an international flight.

Members must enter their Emirates Skywards membership number during the booking process and Skywards Miles will be awarded within two weeks of completing the journey

Emirates operates daily scheduled flights between Malta and Dubai via Larnaca, Cyprus.

Air Malta’s UK seat sale ends today

Air Malta has knocked a quarter off the price of its fares to the UK, but would-be travellers must move quickly as the sale ends today.

The 25 per cent discount applies to services to London Heathrow, London Gatwick and Manchester.

Tickets must be booked for travel between November 1, 2014, and July 31, 2015, to qualify for the offer.

“The UK remains the airline’s most important market and we are kicking off our winter sale with a 25 per cent discount.

“ We believe this is a great opportunity for our customers to travel to the UK since the offer extends for travelling up to July next year,” said Joe Galea, Air Malta’s deputy chief commercial officer.

Discounted tickets can be booked from www.airmalta.com. Seats are subject to availability. Terms and conditions apply. (PA)

Red Arrows fly-past, airshow app

The UK’s Red Arrows display jets will be joined by a local plane in the sky next Sunday: an Air Malta Airbus A320.

The Malta International Airshow, now in its 22nd edition, will be the Red Arrows’ last display of 2014, it was announced this week.

“This fly-past will be a special occasion for us and to Air Malta’s history,” said Captain Martin Ferrando, who will be the flight commander.

“We have been planning this event together with the Red Arrows meticulously over the last couple of weeks and we believe that it will offer the Maltese public a unique flying display.”

British Airways, Virgin Atlantic and Emirates have performed similar fly-pasts together with the Royal Air Force team.

As well as the Red Arrows, the Frecce Tricolori, Patrulla Aguila and the Turkish Stars will perform aerobatic displays.

A mobile app for the two-day show was also launched this week, featuring an interactive competition to win an Air Malta flight that people can use during the event.

App developers THINK will place beacons at various points on the airfield that will ask the user multiple choice questions.

The airX Malta International Airshow app also provides information about the event and can be downloaded from the App Store and Play store.
