Members of the Xagħra Historical Re-enactment Organisation have cleaned the Xagħra plague cemetery by removing weeds and cutting shrubs that had overgrown in the cemetery grounds. The cemetery has laid abandoned for several decades and its retaining walls have suffered damages. Further works are due to be undertaken, including the installation of a new wrought iron gate at the entrance and the stabilisation of the plinth erected in the centre of the cemetery grounds. The cemetery commemorates the victims of the plague that ravaged Xagħra 200 years ago.
