A young man yesterday admitted to injuring the mother of his two children in an argument during which he kicked down the front door of a house.

The incident took place on August 21 when Wayne Borg, 22, of Birżebbuġa went to collect his children during visiting hours. An argument broke out with his former girlfriend, Roxanne Schiavone. The woman ran to her friend’s house for protection but the accused followed her and broke the door down, forcefully demanding to speak to Ms Schiavone and see his children.

The argument continued outdoors and the police were called in to calm the situation. Mr Borg resisted arrest and even assaulted two officers.

Magistrate Anthony Vella conditionally discharged Mr Borg for two years and also issued a protection order for Ms Schiavone and her friend, Francesca Aquilina. The accused paid €270 in damage he caused to the door.

Police Inspector Kevin Pulis prosecuted.
