A 29-year-old man from Serbia was yesterday jailed for 20 months and fined €1,500 for trafficking cocaine.

Milos Peris, who lives in St Julian’s, admitted to trafficking the drug and being in possession of cannabis and hallucinogenic magic mushrooms.

Police Inspector Nikolai Sant said in court officers found three packets of cannabis, a plastic sachet with 17 grams of white powder and a small amount of magic mushrooms.

In his statement to the police, the accused admitted the drugs were his and that he was selling cocaine.

Magistrate Natasha Galea Sciberras noted there was no evidence that about €6,300 in cash found by the police came from illegal activities and ordered the money to be returned to the accused.
