A 51-year-old man from Żebbuġ was yesterday jailed for three years after being found guilty of trafficking heroin found hidden in a chocolate egg package.

Anthony Borg had about 27 heroin capsules in his possession. They were hidden in a Kinder Sorpresa egg.

The chocolate egg was discovered during a police search on the roof of Mr Borg’s residence in 1999. While officers were still there, a man knocked on the door holding money he owed the accused for drugs he had purchased.

Magistrate Natasha Galea Sciberras also fined Mr Borg €2,500.
