Prime Minister Joseph Muscat can be criticised for lack of meritocracy, transparency and deficiencies in other well-known areas. However, if there is something that he can be lauded for this is for acknowledging that independence is the basis of what this country is today.

Same as he recognises that the majority of the Maltese people had voted wisely when they voted for EU accession in 2004.

This confirms that the PN has always been catalyst of ideas for the benefit of all.

Recently, Simon Busuttil spoke about the number of proposals that were submitted by the Opposition in 18 months being equivalent to the number of those presented by Labour in Opposition for 25 years.

The policy fora leading to concrete action at the opportune time form part of a restructuring programme which is gradually strengthening the PN.

This party is for the dignity of every individual. This will be enhanced when, as Busuttil recently said, there will be effective public structures that provide, among others, proper channels for solutions to people’s requirements without having to resort to ‘begging’ ministers and their representatives.

These structures will promote dynamic thinking which would lead to collective benefits as a result of awareness of a collective responsibility within a participatory democracy.

The PN has been synony-mous with results over the years and is determined to form part of the future leadership of this country.

It is positive that for the 50th anniversary of independent Malta this vital legacy is being acknowledged by the one people of this nation state.
