Former Inter stalwart Ivan Cordoba (picture) is expected to visit Malta later this year to hold a coaching clinic for children.

Cordoba, regarded as one of the strongest defenders in the Serie A during his trophy-laden 13-year spell with the Nerazzurri, is following in the footsteps of former Inter captain Javier Zanetti who organised a mini-training camp for kids at the Luxol Stadium last May.

Times of Malta is informed that Cordoba indicated his interest to host a kids campus in Malta during a meeting in Milan with officials from the newly-founded Inter Club Pupi Zanetti Malta.

Like Zanetti, who was appointed vice-president of Inter following his retirement from football, the 38-year-old Cordoba runs a charitable organisation called Fundaciòn Colombia te quiere ver.

The aim of the foundation is to raise money for social and medical aid programmes to help the needy, particularly children in Colombia.

It is believed that all proceeds from the planned Malta training camp, to be staged at the Luxol Stadium in December, will go to Cordoba’s foundation.
