An agreement to enable nurses to continue serving following retirement age has been reached between the government and the Malta Union of Midwives and Nurses.

Through the agreement, the government will also see to the implementation of an more efficient system of nurse recruitment to eliminate bureaucracy and delays.

According to the agreement internal calls made on the basis of a sectoral agreement would be issued in January to be filled by February.

There will also be a call for senior staff nurses in October and similar calls will in future be issued in March and October.
