I suggest that instead of the present junk mail, the Consumers’ Association starts producing publications that deal with particular products and services.
Let’s say I want to buy a fridge. Before I make the purchase, I could phone the association and they would send me a publication telling me what is available on the market. The information could also be sent through the internet.
The association would compile the necessary information from the merchants themselves, who would, in turn, pay for having a form of advertising.
These publications could be updated at regular intervals.
Workers involved in the production and delivery of junk mail now could be involved by the Consumers’ Association in the production of these publications as well as answering the telephone, delivering the publications and maintaining the website.
Thus, the consumer would only receive publications in which he/she is interested and when the need arises.
