Teenage Pakistani rights activist Malala Yousafzai, who survived being shot in the head by the Taliban for campaigning for girls' education, has been invited to Malta President Marie Louise Coleiro Preca.

President Coleiro Preca invited 17-year-old Malala to Malta during a meeting she had with her and her parents in Birmingham, where she is studying.

The invitation is intended for Malala to encourage Maltese children to study and with the possibility of Malala going into partnership with the Office of the President to create an educational project as part of an international campaign for education.

During the meeting, Malala said that education was the only way to achieve world peace.
