A Romanian man who marked cards playing poker at a casino and won €36,000 yesterday admitted fraud.

Iaon-Florian Tet, who is staying at a hotel in St Julian’s, played three-card poker at the Oracle Casino in St Paul’s Bay between Saturday and Tuesday before he was spotted via the CCTV surveillance system marking cards.

The marks would only be visible to the fraudster who would bend slightly or jot a mark on the cards to gain advantage over other players.

Magistrate Doreen Clarke sentenced him to two years in jail suspended for four years and banned him from attending any site licensed by the Malta Gaming Authority for four years.
