The first privately financed anti-smoking campaign targeting Maltese people has been launched online.

The campaign ‘Smoking is ugly’ was launched on Facebook this morning with the aim to generate awareness on the dangers of smoking

It will be mainly aimed at youngsters who are susceptible to peer pressure and will try to dissuade teenagers from taking on the habit. It will also providing information and an incentive for present smokers to quit. 

The individuals funding this campaign will, in future, also be lobbying to introduce measures to stop smoking in public areas accessible to children such as parks and open spaces, as well as in cars in the presence of minors.
