Saviola: Javier Saviola is set to take centre stage if he makes his Serie A debut with Verona in today’s home game against Palermo. The former Barcelona, Real Madrid and Benfica forward will partner ex-Palermo striker Luca Toni in attack. “I can’t wait to play in Serie A,” the 32-year-old Saviola said. “This is a team that wants to grow and continue to improve. I believe we have a great squad that can do well this season.”

Pogba: French midfielder Paul Pogba is in negotiations for a contract renewal with Juventus. Pogba has been linked with a move to Paris Saint-Germain or Real Madrid this summer but he told reporters he has no intention to leave Turin. “I will soon have a meeting with the directors,” he said. “We are in negotiations for a new contract.” His current deal runs up to June 2016.

Sannino: Former Watford manager Giuseppe Sannino is being linked with a return to Italy and a coaching job at troubled Catania. Sannino left Championship side Watford last month in a move that surprised the critics. At the time Sannino said there was no other job lined up, but yesterday it emerged that he’s in talks with Catania who are currently bottom in Serie B.

Podolski: Arsenal forward Lukas Podolski, 29, tweeted a picture of himself with Hollywood film star Samuel L. Jackson, who watched Saturday’s 2-2 draw with Manchester City at the Emirates Stadium. Podolski was an unused substitute against City. “Good game, unfortunately only one point,” wrote the Germany World Cup winner. “Next game on Tuesday. But it was nice to meet Samuel Jackson after the game.”

Mazzarri: Inter coach Walter Mazzarri fractured his hand after a fall in the locker room on Saturday. The 52-year-old lost his balance on his way back to the changing room after a training session. Reports said he put his arm down to break his fall, fracturing a metacarpal bone in his left hand.
