The Ghana Mission Foundation has distributed around 166,000 sets of lottery tickets to raise funds in aid of the Maltese Health Centre in Ghana.

The aim is to buy the equipment needed for an 80-bed hospital, which will serve the Ghanians.

A group of Maltese missionaries, who have just returned after working in the vicinity of the Maltese hospital, said the experience was fulfilling but there was much misery.

Latest improvements include the installation of a borehole for safe, clean water and a bio-gas system, which generates gas from drainage, to assure that the sewage discharged from the hospital will not have a negative effect on neighbouring villages.

The lottery prizes are a Toyota Aygo, followed by a Mediterranean cruise for two and other prizes like weekend breaks, a barbecue set and a hamper.

More tickets are available. Those interested are to call the foundation on 2124 2792 between 9am and noon or send an e-mail to ghanafoundation@gmail.com.

Other donations can be sent by cheque or money order, addressed to The Ghana Mission Foundation, 495B, St Joseph High Road, Santa Venera, SVR1014. One can also make a deposit in one of these bank accounts: BOV11206046019 or HSBC033-143819-050.
