Mango presented its autumn/winter 2014 collection in front of celebrities like Beyza Arslan, Pinar Sabanci and Neslisah Alkoçlar, at the Four Seasons Hotel in Istanbul.

Special guest Canadian top model Coco Rocha opened and closed the show. Rocha, one of the most sought-after models at the moment, has appeared on several magazine covers and has been portrayed by photographers like Steven Meisel, Patrick Demarchelier and Ellen Von Unwerth.

The model said: “I spent two amazing weeks travelling around Turkey and I cannot imagine a better way to end my trip than taking part in a magnificent Mango fashion show in Istanbul. I’m very happy to open the show, a brand I love to work with, and to have been able to capture the magic of this beautiful country.”

The Violeta by Mango collection opened the fashion show with 10 looks, in which the key shades were greys, mixed with autumnal hues such as camel, dark green and garnets. The clothes, clearly influenced by the 1960s, were a mix of natural materials such as woven fabrics, double cloths and structured fabrics.

As a fundamental line, skinny trousers with wrap coats and capes stood out, as well as masculine-style coats, with the blouse always adding the feminine touch. Black is the in colour for evening wear with rhinestone and leather details.

Thirty-two looks were showcased on the catwalk, ranging from military-style items, paired with oversized pieces and high-waisted trousers that featured a mixture of styles and textures. Green, black and white are especially relevant shades for this season.

The new Blacksmith line gives a rocker feel to the collection

Casual clothes were mixed with leather jackets, pieces with studs and Yeti-style boots to define the attitude and freedom of an underground look.

A total of 18 looks combining styles and trends were presented for the men’s HE by Mango line. Dark shades defined the winter season, with grey, black and khaki as the stand-out colours of the range.

Outer wear was presented in terms of a variety of bomber jackets, military parkas, puffa coats and blazers in fabrics such as herringbone.

The new Blacksmith line gave a rocker feel to the collection with items such as cropped trousers or clean-cut denims in black. Garnet gave a splash of colour to this rebellious style.

The mixture of tailored cuts and new volumes stood out among the items featured in this collection.

Turkey is the third largest market for Mango which, in 2013, earned €161 million in turnover for the Consolidated Group Mango/MNG Holding. Currently, it has 116 stores, with eight more expected to open before the end of this year, including two stores this month in Istanbul and Isparta.

According to Arif Zurnaci, the brand’s country manager for Turkey and member of Mango’s executive committee: “We are still focusing on the Turkish market, which is one of the most important and one we first penetrated in 1997. It is very important for us to continue opening stores at the best sales outlets both in the high street and in shopping centres, while at the same time boosting the growth of our newest lines.”

All lines are on sale at mango.com. Mango outlets can be found at The Point, Tigné, Valletta and Main Street Complex, Paola.
