During October, the Building Industry Consultative Council (BICC) is launching another training course on how to maintain and care for old houses and houses of character.

The course starts on October 7, is spread over eight two-hour sessions, and will be held at Project House in Floriana.

During the course, participants will learn more about old houses in Malta, which require maintenance almost all year round, andknow what to do when they need repairs or maintenance.

The participants will learn about how these old houses were built, roof slabs, beams and woodwork, what kind of trees should be planted in the courtyards or on roofs, how to improve energy efficiency and health and safety. The course is suitable for owners of old houses, interested buyers or students pursuing a diploma in restoration.

As places are limited, bookings are on a first-come, first-served basis against a payment of €80. The fee covers the entire course and notes. A certificate will be awarded to each student at the end of the course.
