The Valletta International Piano Festival, founded by Evelina Batey, will be hosting the European Conference of European Piano Teachers Association (EPTA) in 2018, when Valletta will be European Capital City of Culture.

EPTA was founded in 1978 by Carola Grinea in the UK. At present EPTA Europe includes 39 associations, which get together once a year during this annual conference.

The 37th conference was held in June in Oslo, Norway, and brought together over 100 piano teachers and students from 33 countries. Malta was represented at this conference by Batey herself.

In the run-up to this year’s edition of the Valletta International Piano Festival, a Malta Piano Teachers Conference will be held on September 17 at the Malta Society of Arts. Registrations are accepted via e-mail on eptamalta@gmail.com.

The Malta Piano Teachers Associations aims to build a strong professional network and educational platform for both piano teachers and young piano performers in Malta and abroad.

The Valletta International Piano Festival takes place between February 1 and 10.
