The last run of Qatt ma Ninsa – Birgu, a performance based on the eponymous exhibition held earlier this year, is being held today.

The production, which is a collaboration between the Valletta 2018 Foundation and the Teatru Manoel Youth Theatre (TMYT), is an imaginary journey into the soul of the city of Vittoriosa.

Vittoriosa has a long and diverse history, with mari-time and military links. Its stories, troubles and victories can still be seen in its façades and streets. Ten young actors from TMYT have spent the last two months discovering these stories that make up the soul of this very special city. Together they have created a promenade performance that will take visitors on a journey around the city.

Inspired by the recent exhibition and collective memory project held at the Maritime Museum, the production weaves everyday stories with historical fact in an imaginary narrative of four individuals.

The four protagonists fall in and out of love, meet their friends, families and ancestors, tell stories from their past and share their hopes and fears.

The audience follows these characters from one historical place to another within Vittoriosa, encouraging spectators to find out more about the identity of Vittoriosa.

Qatt ma Ninsa – Birgu starts tonight at 7.30pm in Victory Square. Tickets are available online.
