Malta Formula Racing Team’s Formula 4 driver Keith Camilleri has just confirmed that he will be competing in the fifth round of the FIA Formula 4 Italian championship at Autodromo Vallelunga, this weekend.

After skipping the round at Magione, Camilleri said that rather than dwell on the missed opportunity he had spent most of his time to work harder than before to prepare himself for the coming races.

“After taking the hard decision not to race in Magione, I dedicated more of my time to training and making sure that I’m in even better condition than I ever was to race in Vallelunga.”

Vallelunga is a challenging circuit which comprises a mix of slow, medium and high-speed corners.

“The layout at Vallelunga suits my style,” Camilleri said.

“I am really looking forward to get more positive results for me and my team.”

The venue is not new to Camilleri, having obtained the sixth fastest time back in official FIA testing in July.

The Malta Formula Racing Team drivers did exceptionally well in the tests, too, suggesting that they have been able to find a set-up which can extract the maximum potential from the Tatuus TF104 chassis.

Malta Formula Racing Team, led by Danilo Rossi, Marco Ubaldi and Roberto Venieri, will see Camilleri joining American Zackary Dante, who keeps improving in his first season in open-wheel racing.

Joining them, will be Italy’s Mattia Drudi, who currently lies fifth in the championship, Giovanni Altoe – also from Italy – and Maha-veer Raghunathan from India.

Off the track, Camilleri and his team are hoping he’ll manage to secure more funds to continue racing in the championship.

“We know very well we wouldn’t be here without the help of my sponsors, mainly Britannia Tours, Twistees, VisitMalta.com, Chev-ron Auto Dealer and TVM2,” Camilleri said.

“We want to continue racing in this championship but all de-pends on how much funding we are able to raise.”

Highlights and footage from the weekend’s three races from the Formula 4 Italian championship will be screened on TVM2 at 6pm, tomorrow.
