Mathieu: Barcelona defender Jeremy Mathieu has a right ankle problem and missed training yesterday, as Lionel Messi, Andres Iniesta and Thomas Vermaelen continued their recuperation from injury. Barca did not specify whether France international Mathieu would be fit for Saturday’s match at home to Athletic Bilbao.

Cameron: Stoke utility player Geoff Cameron is to undergo surgery to fix a troublesome hernia problem. The US international has made just one appearance this season, in the League Cup victory over Portsmouth, but was forced off with the long-standing injury before half-time.

Guerrero: Striker Paolo Guerrero has joined Nolberto Solano as Peru’s third-highest scorer in internationals with 20 goals after scoring in their 2-0 win over Qatar. The Corinthians striker scored the second of two late goals in the 88th minute of Tuesday’s friendly in Doha as Peru rounded off a tour of the Middle East with two wins after beating Iraq last week.

Legal action: Richard Scudamore’s former personal assistant has reportedly launched legal action against the FA over its failure to investigate the Premier League chief executive’s sexist emails. Rani Abraham, who said in May that she felt she had a duty to speak out about the contents of emails between her boss and his lawyer friend, is already suing the Premier League for £150,000. She has now also lodged a claim against the FA with an employment tribunal saying the national governing body failed in its duty as ultimate arbiter.
