The University of Malta confirmed today that is is investigating a report of sexual molestation made by a law student against a lecturer.

In a brief statement, it said it takes any report of sexual harassment and sexual abuse seriously and investigates such reports rigorously in terms of published regulations (see pdf below).

The University said it could not comment on individual cases.

According to reports, the student, a woman, made her complaint a few days ago but indicated the harassment took place a few months ago but she did not raise the matter earlier because she did not want it to affect her exams.
