A double CD containing 30 compositions by St Julian’s band club’s first conductor, Angelo Pullicino, known for his beautiful marches, has just been released to mark the 110th anniversary of his birth and 35 years since his death.

Birkirkara-born Pullicino joined St Julian’s band when it was set up in 1927 and remained for 43 years, until 1970.

He composed a long list of band marches that were interpreted not just by his band but by various others acropss Malta and Gozo.

Pullicino passed away on September 20, 1979.
