Marisa, my current girlfriend... well OK, my only girlfriend... claims – irrationally – that I am actually in love with Jo-zeff. What rubbish! Sure, I admire him, revere him even, also infatuate over him, but love him? Well... maybe just a bit.

I mean, he is certainly already the greatest leader this country has ever had... well, since Il-Perit turned his toes up anyway. So I wasn’t angry when my girlfriend accused me of loving Jo-zeff; I mean, let’s face it... he is a very loveable – oh and charismatic leader; so it’s only natural that he should awaken in my breast feelings of... well amour. Not in any homosexual way, of course, oh no, absolutely not.

But didn’t you just love the way he completely altered his hectic schedule to make sure he was on the tarmac at MIA for that just-by-chance photo op with the returning released Maltese hostage, flying in from Libya. Who else but a leader at the forefront of global affairs would have shown such selfless compassion and percipient opportunism. Bravo Jo-zeff, we all say... bravo!

However, with the summer drawing to a close, we must once more all (all of us on the government benches, that is) turn our attention to running the country and building upon Jo-zeff and his Cabinet’s – so far – triumphant period of governance. Much remains to be done, however, to undo all the bad things the other lot were guilty of, during all their 25 wasted years in tenuous charge of the country.

But like the rest of the population I have been enjoying the dregs of the summer. I even attended a wonderful dance show in Teatru Rjal... that ruin which was neglected for so long by the Opposition gang. Only to be gloriously resurrected by the current gvern, under Jo-zeff’s inspirational leadership.

Oh yes, Marisa and I took our seats in the front row... after walking the length of the theatre – well there’s no point in getting privileged seats if nobody sees you’ve got them, is there? And... Marisa assured me that she witnessed a spectacular and brilliant show.

There’s no point in getting privileged seats if nobody sees you’ve got them, is there?

Fatigued after a rare day at the beach, I’m afraid I nodded off before the first leap and twirl had... leaped and twirled. Nevertheless, a heartfelt prosit to everyone concerned... whoever they were. It was almost as inspiring and professional as Ġensna... which, of course, I did stay awake for.

And speaking of cultural matters, did you see that our minister for judicial affairs was obliged to give ‘Jaysin’ a smack on the wrist recently, for daring to question Jo-zeff’s unerring judgement in leaving a known Opposition collaborator in his position as head honcho at some TV channel or other?

Opinions differ on whether we should pander to the other side’s attempts to worm their way into the establishment that we have so carefully built up since Jo-zeff’s accession to the throne of power.

Personally, I see no harm in allowing a minimal number of fifth columnists to cling on to vestiges of perceived power... just so long as we deny them any relevant influence. It’s obvious really, isn’t it.

After a recent extensive power cut I was incensed to read and hear those failed political lackeys of the Opposition blaming Jo-zeff and the current administration for Enemalta’s failings. Just wait... just wait until our all-new gas-fired system is up and running, then they will all have to eat their words – and very indigestible they will surely be. And anyway... we inherited their clapped-out system, so it is they who are to blame... 100 per cent!

Let’s face it, the Opposition are clutching at straws, as can be seen from the fuss they are making about that nice Japanese(sic) lady, married to Con the con – and her alleged exorbitant salary and perks. Give it a rest will you...? I’m sure she’s worth every million.

That’s what Jo-zeff tells us, so it must be true.

I don’t think she was Japanese... I think Con is.

Backbencher: I find your grovelling sycophancy nauseating.

Backbencher replies:

What does sycophancy mean? And whatever it is I’m not it...so there.
