The new construction along Iklin Valley goes against all norms of accepted planning regulations. This is a bungalow area, which as marked in the Mepa plan, allows for one floor and a semi-basement. This new development plans to have three floors with a total height of four floors above the valley floor.
The word ‘bungalow’ has been drastically redefined by Mepa in such a way that the profile of the hillside will no longer be respected. What we will end up with in reality is a huge block of flats built across the valley.
Some existing bungalow villas will eventually have a building four floors higher literally overlooking them. This will inevitable mean that others will follow suit and build upwards in this bungalow area.
It is no wonder that planning permission for this hideous development had been so vehemently refused by the Mepa case officer, only to be unanimously approved by the Mepa board three weeks later with very minimal ‘cosmetic’ alterations.
The powers that be are duty-bound to ascertain that Mepa reviews this abhorrent situation before it is too late and yet another beautiful area is ruined.
