“To inspire and enrich young people through the performing arts. This is our vision,” says Edward Mercieca, senior principal at Stagecoach Theatre Arts School(Malta).

“So many children have come to us over theyears. The life skills that they have developed, no matter how long they stay with us, is quite astounding. I cannot recommend the performing arts to children more strongly, irrespective of their talent.

“The Stagecoach offices are a hive of activity as they prepare to open the Stagecoach doors for the 17th year. We offer part time training in musical theatre with lessons in the three disciplines, acting, singing and dancing,” Mercieca said.

“And with centres in Mosta, Pembroke, B’Kara, Mselliet, B’Bugia and Gozo no one is really far away from a Stagecoach school.

“We have been taking our students to perform in the UK for a number of years now. Last year, we took a group of 50 students to perform in the world’s greatest ever performance of Cats at the Birmingham Indoor Arena, with a cast of 3,000 students and an audience of over 10,000.

“At the end of October we took a group of students to perform at Her Majesty’s Theatre in the West End of London. We are repeating this in November. How many children can claim to have performed in such locations?” Mercieca said.
