Dance Project Studios in Pembroke amalgamates various forms of creative arts with a particular focus on merging classical dance with the latest commercial MTV-style street moves and funky jazz fusions.

The school offers classes in hip-hop, breakdance, funk, lyrical jazz and contemporary, alongside preparatory classes for ISTD Modern Theatre and Cecchetti ballet examinations, working up to A-level qualification and beyond. The school has also developed the first and only hip-hop dance diploma in Malta.

Over the years the portfolio of disciplines offered at Dance Project has continued to evolve and currently also includes street dance, acrobatics and vocal classes.

Dance Project says it aims to revolutionise educational and cultural boundaries, fostering a philosophy of ‘dance is for everyone’, without discriminating on grounds of gender, age or experience.

The school offers classes at all levels, allowing students from as young as two years to grow and develop as beginners, working towards professional standards over time. All that is required from a student is motivation and a passion for the arts and creativity, the school says.

The school co-ordinates yearly dance trips to Mediterraneo Dance Festival in Italy and participates in the ESDU DanceStar World Championships in Croatia. In addition, the school also commissions the services of famed overseas choreographers in order to conduct local workshops that further increase the experience and exposure of students.

Dance Project says it is effectively an extended family – a family of performers – an atmosphere nurtured both in and outside the studios, hence building lifelong relationships.
