As a result of their comprehensive 14-6 victory over First Division champions Marsascala Mor€ in the second out of three promotion play-offs, Exiles Ferretti retained their top division status.

Better equipped collectively and having the more versatile units, Maurizio Mirarchi’s team had little difficulty in beating their opponents after they had dismissed them 19-14 in the first match on Tuesday.

Inspite of their clearcut victories over an inferior outfit, the team from Sliema will have to improve abundantly if they are to make an impact among the elite beyond some satisfactory results they managed to obtain this season.

Marsascala were at par with Exiles until the end of the first session. But after those opening eight minutes they were unable to keep up their initial momentum.

The expertise of Gergely Katonas and Luka Sekulic could not be matched by the southerners, who were dismantled time and again both on fast breaks and set play.

The two Exiles’ foreigners netted a hat-trick each, with the other eight goals coming from another six players on the team list.

For Marsascala, Sergi Mora struck a hat-trick, but that was to no avail.
